The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Research
and Development Committee which were considered at its meeting of
February 12, 1974:

No. 541.2 : PROPOSED PARK DEDICATION ORDINANCE - PUBLIC HEARINGS
From Raymond H. Suefuji, Planning Director, dated
February 5, 1974, informing that the Planning
Commission has scheduled the following public hearings
on the proposed ordinance relating to dedication
of land for parks and playgrounds : Friday, February 15 ,
1974 at Yano Memorial Hall, Kona, at 7:00 p.m. and
March 14, 1974 in Hilo. Requests participation at
the hearings and submittal of written comments :

January 4, 1974, submitting for adoption Bill 24 to
change the district classification from Agricultural
(A-la) to a Single Family Residential (RS-10) zoned
district at Waiakea Homesteads, 2nd -Series, Waiakea,
South Hilo.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Bill 24 on second and final
reading.
No. 649 : GENERAL PLAN - SOUTH KOHALA AREA DESIGNATION
From Thomas Nakahara, Trustee, Puako Heights Investors,
dated January 11, 1974, informing that they have
purchased 3,000 acres in South Kohala from Signal
Properties, Inc. Under the General Plan the area is

(2,_ No. 670: PROPOSED KONA MULTI-AGENCY MAINTENANCE & SERVICE
FACILITY
From Pearl Rein, President, Kona Outdoor Circle, dated
January 22, 1974, informing that they went on record
opposing the selection of the site on Mamalahoa Highway
for the proposed State baseyard and lists reasons for
their objections.
Inform writer that their concerns
have been referred to the Office
of Environmental Quality Control
and the Department of Accounting
and General Services and request
that they recommend a more
suitable site for the baseyard.
45,LA- No. 681: SUBDIVISION & ZONING AMENDMENTS
From Arthur W. Martin, Chairman, Planning Commission,
dated January 22, 1974, notifying that they voted
unanimously to recommend approval of the following
subdivision and zoning amendments already enacted
by the County Council but which had not been heard
by the Commission:
Ordinance No. 573 adopted April 13, 1972
Ordinance No. 460 adopted April 5, 1972
Ordinance No. 320 adopted May 20, 1970
Ordinance No. 459 adopted April 5, 1972
This action fulfills the Charter requirement that
subdivision and zoning amendments be reviewed by the
Planning Commission and submitted through the Mayor
to the Council for consideration and action:
