Receive and file. �No. 725.1: HILO DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT PLAN Copy of letter to the Hawaii County Planning Commission from Mary W. Earl, Civics Chairman, Hilo Womans Club, dated March 14, 1974, offering suggestions on the Downtown Development Plan. It is not necessary to establish a Downtown Develop- ment Commission; and 2. Retain the original Belt, Collins plan which allows for a ten-story height limitation. /LQ, c - 725.6 : From Joseph Andrews, Chairman, Legislative Committee, Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, dated June 10, 1974, endorsing the plan as proposed by Belt, Collins & Associates , without the following amendments that were suggested by the Planning Commission: 1. Revision of the height limitations ; and 2. Establishment of a Downtown Development Commission. Pet. 11: Petition from landowners, tenants and interested business- men of Hilo recommending the immediate adoption of the Downtown Development Plan as originally presented by Belt, Collins with its amendments with the following exceptions : 1. Revert back to the present legal ten-story limit in the designated areas of the plan; and 2. Another Downtown Development Commission not be adopted. Recommend the following actions on the proposed revisions to the Preliminary Hilo Downtown Develop- ment Plan, as presented by Belt, Collins and Associates , Ltd. and contained in their report of April 19, 1974: 1. Approve Items 4 to 10, inclusive. 2. Reject Items 1, 2, 3, and 11. 411 • PRDC-30 - 3 - June 10, 1974 &c C- No. 742.2 : FUTURE USE OF FEDERAL BUILDING (POST OFFICE) From Dorothea Carvalho dated May 22, 1974, requesting the Council to consider the future use of the Federal Building as an art gallery in the review of plans for future Hilo. Receive and file and transmit copy of the communication to the administration for their information. No. 815 : SIGN VARIANCE REQUEST - MOYA'S CATERING From Kenzo Uehara, Moya' s Catering, dated April 26, 1974, requesting a variance to erect a plastic sign (4'x3' ) with their name which will hang along with their Union 76 sign on their property. ,( a- 815. 1: From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated May 20, 1974, informingthey that concur with the Planning Department for approval of the variance. Recommend approval of the variance request. 7No. 833: COUNTY OF HAWAII LOT INVENTORY From Raymond H. Suefuji, Planning Director, dated May 2, 1974, informing that as reflected in the Land Use Report as of December 1971, there were 105,481 lots within the County. However, they are now in the process of updating the Land Use Report to reflect the changes since December 1971 and as soon as the report is updated, they will forward the new informa- tion to the PRDC. Receive and file. 7No. 850: ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL From Richard E. Marland, Interim Director, Office of Environmental Quality Control, dated May 13, 1974, submitting for information a copy of the minutes of their meetings and site visits to the County of Hawaii and County of Maui, May 8, 9, and 10, 1974. Receive and file. L 411 111 PRDC-30 - 4 - June 10, 1974 RESOLUTION No. 233 : MAUNA KEA MASTER PLAN (C-822/PRDC-29 ) Pledges support in the participation of the master planning and management of land use on Mauna Kea to protect the natural, scientific, recreational and archaeological values of the mountain. Approve and recommend adoption. BILL No. 52 : AMENDMENT TO ZONING CODE Amends Chapter 8 (Zoning Code) , Hawaii County Code, relating to procedures for the administration and enforcement thereof.
