Re: Agreement with the State of Hawai`i Department of Transportation
The Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawai`i Department of Transportation in order to receive four fourteen-passenger vans
with a cost-match of 20% to be provided by the County. These vans are for use by the
Department's Elderly Activities Coordinated Services section to provide transportation
for senior citizens over 60 years old and those with disabilities.
The Department of Parks and Recreation requests that this resolution be waived from the
Finance Committee and be placed on the March 8, 2017 Council agenda in order to
expedite the receipt of these vehicles. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to

A. REQUEST:
Requesting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter an intergovernmental agreement with the State
Department of Transportation to acquire four (4) 14 passenger vans at the match cost of 20%.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
In cooperation with the State Department of Transportation the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and
Recreation would like to acquire four (4) 14 passenger vehicles for the Department's Coordinated Services
for the Elderly section. The vehicles will be utilized to provide essential shopping, medical, and recreational
transportation for senior citizens 60 years and older and those with disabilities. The vehicles will be used to
expand services and supplement current aging fleet.
The department requests that this bill be waived from Finance Committee and proceed directly for Council's
review to help expedite the project.
