Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture is providing $91,891 to the County of
Hawaii for its Agricultural Crimes Project. Funds will be used towards providing salary
and other costs associated with hiring an agricultural investigator at the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney for one year.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawai`i Department of Agriculture to allow the County to receive funds for this
program. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by
appropriating this $91,891 to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Agricultural
Crimes Project account.
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney requests that this bill and resolution be waived
from the Finance Committee and be placed on the March 8, 2017 Council agenda in order
to expedite the receipt of these funds. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to
call Lee Lord of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney at 934-3315.
