From Councilwoman Lai dated April 14, 1975 , submitting
for consideration and appropriate action a letter dated
April 4, 1975, from Senator Hiram L. Fong regarding the
Ohia Lehua decline study.
Comply with Senator Fong's
request and refer to the
Corporation Counsel to draft
the proper resolution.
No. 388. 1: REZONING/TIME EXTENSION - JACK H. UJIMORI (ORD. 605)
Copy of letter from Planning Director Raymond Suefuji
dated April 16, 1975, to Stephen K. Yamashiro, Attorney
for Jack H. Ujimori , granting a six-month extension
• until December 22, 1975 , to commence with the construction
of the project.

From Council Chairman Yamada dated April 21, 1975 ,
submitting a letter from Henry Haws , NACo Western
Region District President urging support of the
various counties in a national campaign to get
"payments-in-lieu" legislation adopted during the
94th Congress. Recommends support to accomplish
passage of this legislation to establish an equitable
payments-in-lieu system.

No. 1193 . 2 : COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(Res. 384) From Mayor Matayoshi dated April 24, 1975, informing
that they have been advised by the Area Director of
the Department of Housing and Urban Development that
the County' s application for the Community Development
Block Grant has been officially accepted and is being
processed by that Agency. Informs that the County now
has an opportunity to apply for a Discretionary Grant,
under the same CDBG Program and requests authorization
to file an application for the Honomu Water System.
Submits a resolution authorizing the filing of the
application and designating the Mayor as the representa-
tive of the County.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 384.
'No. 1254: SIGN VARIANCE REQUEST - HILO MEDICAL GROUP

dated April 2, 1975 , requesting a variance to install a

the clinic and signify the main entry of the facility.

1975, requesting comments and recommendations from the
Council on the application by Rainalter Development
Company, Inc. , for a Planned Development Permit to allow
the submission of plans for plan approval for a 110-unit
condominium project to be situated at Keauhou 1st,
North Kona. Informs that the Council has fifteen days
from the date of receipt of their letter to submit its
comments .

No. 1266: PUBLIC LIBRARIES (RESOLUTION 96)
From City Clerk Eileen K. Lota dated April 18, 1975,
transmitting for information a copy of Resolution 96 adopted
by the Council of the City and County of Honolulu requesting
the Legislature of the State of Hawaii to consider trans-
ferring the control and administration of all public
libraries on the island of Oahu to the City and County
of Honolulu.

1975, transmitting for adoption a resolution to name
the roadway within the Hualalai Estates Subdivision,
Holualoa 1 and 2, North Kona.

April 23, 1975 , submitting a' progress report on the
Hawaii Geothermal Project.

From Seichi Hirai , Clerk of the Senate, dated April 9,
1975 , transmitting a copy of Senate Concurrent Resolution 83
requesting the Department of Land and Natural Resources ,
the Department of Planning & Economic Development, the
Governor of the State of Hawaii , the County of Hawaii, the
U. S. National Park Service, and property ownerswhose
land the William Ellis Trail traverses to cooperate with
the Friends of the William Ellis Trail in its efforts to
make the complete historic trail accessible to the public.

concurrence of the actions described in his communication
and support in having the County become actively , involved
