The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Research, Develop-
ment and Legislative Committee which were considered at its meeting of
May 28, 1975 :
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 1172.4: . MASTER PLAN FOR MAUNA KEA
From Council Chairman Yamada dated May 12, 1975 , referring
for appropriate disposition a copy of the transcript of
a statement by Mr. Earl Pacheco regarding Mauna Kea which
was presented at the Council meeting of May 7, 1975.
Reiterate Council' s position on
the master plan. for Mauna Kea
(Res. 233) and request the Governor
not to release any State funds
for new construction until the
master plan is completed.
No. 1253. 2 : KONA SCENIC SHOPPING CENTER - KEALAKEKUA
Copy of letter to Mrs. Virginia Isbell from Mayor Matayoshi
dated May 12, 1975 responding to her letter of April 20
regarding the proposed Kona Scenic shopping center in
Kealakekua.
1253.3 : From Planning Director Raymond Suefuji dated May 8, 1975,
(Bill 125 ) hoping that the Council would act favorably on the change
of zone request as the concerns expressed regarding the
traffic situation has been included in Bill 125 as a
condition of approval.

No. 1265.1: TARO RESEARCH
From L. D. Swindale, Associate Director, College of
Tropical Agriculture, University of Hawaii, dated
May 19, 1975, informing that the Hawaii Agricultural
Experiment Station supports the intent of Resolution 400
regarding Federal funding for taro research.
1265.2: Copy of letter to Research & Development Director Clarence W.
Garcia from John D. Sullivan, Deputy Administrator, Natural
Resources, U. S. Department of Agriculture, dated May 15,
19750 informing that they can release funds as soon as they
receive a satisfactory proposal through Dr. Les Swindale.

No. 1299: HOUSE RESOLUTION 589 - REQUESTING THE STATE DEPARTMENT
OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES AND THE COUNTY GOVERNMENTS
TO SPECIFY THOSE LANDS WHICH SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY
THEIR INCLUSION IN THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF
HAWAII
From Mayor Matayoshi dated May 1, 1975 soliciting
comments from the Council by June 30, 1975 to comply
with the legislative request.

1299.1: From PRDLC Chairman Frank De Luz dated May 23, 1975,
commenting on H.R. 589 and recommending submittal to
the Planning Department.

No. 1331: INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS - NORTH/SOUTH KOHALA & HAMAKUA/
NORTH HILO DISTRICTS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLANS
From Planning Director Raymond Suefuji dated May 21,
1975, informing that they will be holding general
informational meetings on North/South Kohala and
Hamakua/North Hilo districts community development
plans.
