The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Research, Develop-
ment and Legislative Committee which were considered at its meeting of
October 17, 1975 :
COMMUNICATIONS
C- No. 227.1: MAPPING FOR COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT
From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated October 2, 1975 ,
informing that the recent passage of Act 176 committed
and mandated the counties to develop and enforce rules
and regulations for activities within the coastal areas.
Requests initially an appropriation of $35,000 to accomplish
the required aerial mapping work with concentration on
areas of urban or potential urban zoning to aid in the
administration of this responsibility.
Recommend favorable action to
Finance Committee.

Akamine, from Planning Director dated September 29, 1975 ,
informing that the six-month extension for compliance

expiring October 16, 1975 and if no word is received
within five days after receipt of their letter, they
shall take appropriate action towards rezoning the subject
land back to its original classification.

adopted by the Council on July 9, 1975 as a wrong bill
was submitted and subsequently adopted.

and Case, dated, July 29, 1975, requesting a sign variance
on behalf of Kitagawa Volkswagen, Inc. , for the installa-
tion of an Audi sign (12 square feet) for Kamaaina
• Volkswagen at 471 Kalanianaole Avenue. This is in
addition to their VW "lollipop" sign (19.63 square feet) ,
- the Volkswagen sign (10.50 square feet) and parking sign
(4 square feet) .
