ment and Legislative Committee which were considered at its meeting of
May 5 , 1976 :

(Bill 214, From Deputy Corporation Counsel Lionel D. Meyer dated
as amended) May 4, 1976 submitting amended Bill 214.
Amend Section 11.03 of amended
Bill 214 by limiting the period of
use as follows :
(1) New Year' s Eves, From 7:00 p.m.
to 2 :00 a.m.
( 2 ) New Year' s Day. From 7:00 a.m:
to 7:00 p.m.
(3 ) Chinese New Year' s Eve. From
7 :00 p.m. to 2 :00 a.m.
(4) Chinese New Year's Day. From
7:00 a.m. to 7 :00 p.m.
(5 ) Fourth of July. From 7:00 a.m.
to midnight.
Recommend adoption of Bill 214,
as amended, on second and final
reading.

Medical Center, dated January 31, 1976, asking reconsidera-
tion of their sign variance request originally submitted
in October, 1976 and approved by the Council on January 20,
1976.
4c - 1621. 3 : From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated April 1, 1976,
submitting recommendations on the subject request.
Recommend grant variance request
with two illuminated signs , 20 square
feet or less , with metal block siding
and metal leg support, and accept
Planning Department' s recommendation
for indirect lighting.
�No. 1762 : OPIHI PROTECTION
From Helen S. Baldwin, Chairman, Flora and Fauna Committee,
Hawaii Island Conservation Council, dated March 4, 1976,
submitting recommendations on opihi protection and asks
support from the Council to help save this valuable natural
resource.
- 1762. 1: From Mayor Matayoshi dated April 22, 1976 informing that
the Department of Research & Development received from
Mrs . Baldwin a similar letter which was forwarded to
Mr. Don Reeser, Chairman of the Hawaii Island Fish and
Wildlife Advisory Committee. The recommendations of the
committee were forwarded to the Division of Fish and Game
in a letter dated March 31, 1976.

that the Council has always supported
the opihi preservation program and
transmit copy of C-1762. 1 for her
information.

Copy of letter to Frank Schwantes from Planning Commission
Chairman dated April 23, 1976 notifying that in accordance
with the provisions of Chapter 8 (Zoning Code) , Article 27,
Section H, Hawaii County Code, as amended, the Commission
shall act on his petition for a PDP not earlier .than 15 days
after the public hearing held on April 22.

of Bill 221 on first reading.

From Planning Commission Chairman Leon K. Sterling, Jr. ,
dated March 11, 1976, transmitting for adoption a bill to
change the district classification from a Single-Family
Residential (RS-7.5 ) and an Agricultural (A-la) to a
Multiple Family Residential (RM-4) zoned district at
Ponahawai , Punahoa 1st and 2nd, South Hilo.
Informs that the Planning Commission also voted to grant
a Planned Development Permit (PDP) for the proposed project
subject to final adoption of the change of zone request
by the County Council. Should the Council have specific
comments on the PDP, the Commission would reconsider the
PDP; if there is none, the PDP would remain as approved
by the Commission.
Approve and recommend passage
of Bill 222 on first reading.

dated April 5 , 1976, transmitting a resolution to adopt
street names for the roadways within the Ahualani Sub-
division, located in Waiakea Homesteads , South Hilo.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 567.
/ C.- No. 1833 : AMENDMENT TO RULES AND REGULATIONS - HAWAII LIQUOR
COMMISSION
From Hideo Kuniyoshi , Director, Department of Liquor
Control, dated April 12, 1976, transmitting for approval
an amendment to the rules and regulations adopted by the
Hawaii Lqiuor Commission on April 5 , 1976. The amendment
will permit a licensee with multiple licenses to enjoy
quantity discount purchases and delivery of liquor to
its various outlets .
Approve amendment to rules and
regulations of the Hawaii Liquor
Commission.
