The following are the recommendations of the Public Safety and
Transportation Committee which were considered at its meeting of
October 16, 1973:
COMMUNICATIONS
�.. ti No. 425. 1: FIRE HYDRANTS - MT. VIEW
(t-425/PSTC-11)
From Akira Fujimoto, Manager, Department of Water
Supply, dated September 28, 1973, informing that
there are 27 hydrants that should be installed to
provide proper fire protection along the Volcano
Road from Arakaki Subdivision to Psyzk Road, costing
approximately $40,000. This information has been
forwarded to the Fire Chief.
Receive and file; and transmit a
copy of letter to Mr. Daniel Hata
for his information.
No. 474: AMENDMENTS TO TRAFFIC CODE
From Robert J. Santos, Cairman, Highway Safety
Council, dated September 17, 1973, recommending amend-
ments be made to Chapter 6, Traffic Code of Ordinance
No. 1, Hawaii County Code on the following:
1. "No Parking - Passenger Loading Zone" on the
mauka side of Kapiolani Street.
2, "No Parking" zone along the Hawi side of the
access road to the Kohala Civic Center.
3, "No Parking" zone along the Puna side of
Ponahawai Street.
Accept recommendation on Item 3
and refer to the Corporation Counsel
to prepare the proper amendments.

<< No. 521: HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW - HILO BUS SERVICE
From Edward Hara3a, Chief Engineer, dated October 15,
1973, informing that bids for the Hawaiian Ocean View
Estates - Hilo Bus Service have been opened and
recommends adoption of Resolution 136 obligating
necessary funds for the three-year bus contract.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 136.
