The following are the recommendations of the Public Safety and
Transportation Committee which were considered at its meeting of
February 13, 1974:
COMMUNICATIONS
4eue - No. 660: SCHOOL RELATIONS PROGRAM AT HILO HIGH SCHOOL
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated January 17, 1974,
informing that the Hawaii Police Department has
submitted an application to the Law Enforcement
Assistance Administration to formulate a School
Relations Program at Hilo High School and has received
tentative approval for its funding. Upon its final
approval, this project would be for the duration of
one year and thereafter be the responsibility of the
County of Hawaii.
In preparation for the selection and training for
this program, requests that a new Detective position
(SR-21G) be created for the South Hilo District to
be assigned as a School Relations Officer at Hilo High
School.
Approve request.
N o. 671: DESIGN SERVICES - DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY BLDG.
From Robert C. Klaus, Executive Vice President,
Westburg-Klaus Associates, Inc. , dated January 21, 1974,
offering their professional design services in the
development of the County' s public safety building.

From Councilman Tomio Fujii dated January 31, 1974,
requesting consideration to change the area fronting
Mt. View School into a no passing acne for the
safety and best interest of the people, especially
the children of the Mt. View area.
Support request and refer
to the State Highway Division
for favorable action.
