The following are the recommendations of the Public Safety and
Transportation Committee which were considered at its meeting of
March 29, 1974:
COMMUNICATIONS
lice C- No. 325. 1: 24-HOUR FIRE STATIONS
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated March 22, 1974,
submitting cost projection estimating the operating,
construction, and equipping costs of a twelve-man
fire station, a list of criteria used to establish
priorities for fire station establishment, and certain
data on alarms at the existing one-man stations.
Refer to the 1974-1975 budget
for consideration.
4Ld- No. 588.1: STREET CROSSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Walker, President, Kealakehe School Parent Teacher Organi-
zation, dated March 25, 1974, thanking the County of
Hawaii for instituting the traffic safety program for the
children that cross Palani Road at the entrance to the
school and requesting that the County continue to support
and appropriate funds for this program.
Receive and file; and refer the
street crossing assistance program
to the 1974-1975 budget for
consideration.
No. 734: APPOINTMENTS
From Council Chairman Robert M. Yamada dated
March 11, 1974, referring to the Committees for considera-
tion appointments and reappointments submitted by the
Mayor.
Recommend confirmation of
appointments to the Police Commission
and Transportation Committee.

Fire Fighters Association, dated March 22, 1974,
expressing concern that the fire department budget
will not include sufficient personnel to safely and

the County. Submits for information a copy of Fire Chief
Takeguchi' s estimate of the requirements for a 56-hour
work week which was submitted by Hawaii County authorities
to the Fact-Finding Panel during the last negotiations;
