The following are the recommendations of the Public Safety and
Transportation Committee which were considered at its meeting of
July 31, 1974:
COMMUNICATIONS :
No. 427. 1: EXECUTION OF CAPITAL GRANT CONTRACT UNDER UMPTA
(Res. 253) From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated July 26, 1974,
submitting for consideration and adoption a resolution
authorizing the execution of Capital Grant Contract with
the Urban Mass Transit Authority by the Mayor for the
purchase of equipment for the Hawaii County Transit System.
Approve and recommend
adoption of Res. 253.

�No. 764: TRAFFIC PROBLEMS - SECTION OF HIGHWAY 19 (KONA)
From Councilman William S. Kawahara dated March 21, 1974,
informing of the need for lighting at the entrances from
Highway 19 into Kona Coastview Subdivision and into Kona
Wonderview Subdivision; and also for low speed limits in
the subdivision.

commenting on Communication 764.

, C_ Comm. 893: AMENDMENTS TO THE TRAFFIC CODE
From Robert J. Santos, Chairman, Highway Safety Council,
dated July 5, 1974, recommending the following amendments
to Chapter 6, Ordinance No. 1, Hawaii County Code:
1. No Parking on Pavement on the Hilo Side of
Anderton Camp Road, Papaikou.
2. Freight Loading Zone on the Hamakua Side
of Nawahi Lane.
3. Bus Stop on Pauahi Street.
Accept recommendationsand
refer to Corporation Counsel to
prepare the proper amendments.
Comm. 920 : BUS SERVICE BETWEEN KOHALA AND MAUNA KEA BEACH AND
HONOKAA AND MAUNA KEA BEACH
From Stanley A. Nakamae, Director of Finance, dated
July 30, 1974, submitting for consideration a
resolution authorizing three-year contracts for
bus service between Kohala and Mauna Kea Beach and
Honokaa and Mauna Kea Beach.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 254.
