The following are the recommendations of the Public Safety and
Transportation Committee which were considered at its meeting of
June 26, 1974:

rNo. 368. 1: REPORT ON HAWAII TRANSIT SYSTEM
From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated June 10, 1974,
submitting the Transit Manager' s report on the Hawaii
Transit System of March 27, 1974 and also the Operating
Report for the period May 1 to May 23, 1974.
Receive and file.
,jC!. No. 852: AMENDMENT TO TRAFFIC CODE
From Chas L. Schuster, District Engineer, State Highways
Division, dated May 23, 1974, requesting amendment to the
Traffic Code for the improved highway in Districts of
North Hilo and Hamakua from the Saddle Road to Hale Pohaku.
Approve request and refer to
Corporation Counsel to prepare
the proper amendment.
�No. 858: COUNTY OF HAWAII SAFETY PROGRAM
From George M. Paiva, Safety Coordinator, dated May 31,
1974, informing of the seven basic elements that make
up the structure of the Cdubty' s Safety Program.

,&e&- No. 866: AMENDMENTS TO TRAFFIC CODE
From Robert J. Santos, Chairman, Highway Safety
Council, dated June 3, 1974, recommending the
following amendments to Chapter 6, Traffic Code,
Ordinance No. 1, Hawaii County Code:
1. Speed Limit Changes in Puna Area
2. No-Parking zone on the Mauka Side of Pukihae Street
3. No Parking zone on the Makai Side of the Kalapana
Beach road, from the Kapoho-Kaimu-Pahoa intersection
to a point 240 feet in the Kapoho direction.
Accept recommendations and refer
to the Corporation Counsel to
prepare the proper amendments.
