The following are the recommendations of the Agriculture and
Visitor Industry Committee which were considered at its meeting of
February 13 , 1973.
COMMUNICATIONS:
"No. 108: TROPICAL RESEARCH CENTER
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated January 23 , 1973,
transmitting for information, a copy of a letter
from the Administrative. Assistant to Senator Inouye,
acknowledging receipt of a copy of the Mayor' s
communication to Mr. Starkey relative to the Tropical
Research Center and its establishment in the County
of Hawaii.
108.1: From Mayor Kimura transmitting for information a
copy of a letter from Congresswoman Patsy T. Mink
supporting his request that a local representative
from Hawaii County be added to a newly formed team
of USDA and University scientists studying the
proposed Tropical Agriculture Center.

"No. 121: LEGISLATIVE BILLS
From AVIC Chairman dated February 9, 1973, submitting
legislative bills for favorable consideration. Suggests
the Committee recommend to the Council support of the
bills and refer to the Legislative Committee for
lobbying.

From Planning Director Raymond Suefuji dated February
5, 1973 informing that they have submitted their
comments to Corporation Counsel, and upon receipt
of comments from another agency, the Corporation Counsel
will submit a draft of the amendment to the Council
through the Mayor.
