The following are the recommendations of the Agriculture and
Visitor Industry Committee which were considered at its meeting
of August 8, 1973 :
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 58. 1 : KAWAIHAE CORAL
From E. Alvey Wright, Acting Director of Trans-
portation, dated June 27, 1973, submitting
additional information on coral in the Kawaihae
stockpile.
e- 58. 2 : From Yoshio Watanabe, Agriculturist, dated
July 2, 1973, submitting a report on the use
of coral other than for agriculture use.
Recommends adoption of a Resolution
requesting the State Department of
Transportation to preserve the use
of coral for agricultural uses only
and to stop using coral for any
other purposes.

No. 317. 1 : AMENDMENT TO ZONING ORDINANCE
From Raymond H. Suefuji, Planning Director, dated
August 6, 1973, submitting further comments on
Bill 979.
Recommends approval and passage of
Bill 979 on first reading.
No. 360: TARIFF ON PINEAPPLES
From Daniel K. Inouye, United States Senator,
dated June 30, 1973, informing that he has
introduced legislation which would increase
the tariff on pineapples to 18 percent ad_valorem
and on pineapple juice to 35 cents per gallon.

enclosing a copy of his recent correspondence to
President Nixon urging his support in removing
present barriers to the U. S. export of pineapples
to Japan. Requests active support of his proposal
as he believes that such support will be helpful
to his efforts to gain a higher priority for pine-
apples in the negotiations.
Recommends adoption of a Resolution
supporting Senator Inouye ' s tariff
and removal of present barriers to
the U. S. export of pineapples to
Japan.
