which were considered at its meeting of July 30, 1974:

/No. 132.89 : FLUORIDATION
From Dorothea Carvalho dated July 24, 1974, on sup-
pression of facts regarding fluoridation.
Receive and file.
"No. 876: CLEARING OF DRY BRUSH
From Harold W. Adams, President, Puako Community
Association, dated June 15, 1974, requesting the
adoption of an ordinance requiring that dry brush be
cleared from houselots in dry areas of the island,
such as Puako, as the dry brush creates a serious
fire hazard.
876. 1: From Fire Chief Charles Takeguchi dated July 15,
1974, submitting a letter from the Department of
Public Works regarding the proposal for the clearing
of dry brush.
Accept recommendation of the
Chief Engineer that the
procedural steps pursuant to
Chapter 3, Article 5 of the
Hawaii County Code, be followed
on the clearing of uncultivated
undergrowth. Transmit a copy
of the Chief Engineer' s letter
to the Puako Community Association
for their information.

From Arthur W. Martin dated June 27, 1974, informing
that he is opposed to legalizing betting in the county.
879.2 : From Mary W. Earl dated July 3, 1974, recommending
that the issue of pari-mutuel betting be subjected
to a referendum to allow the citizens of the county
to make the decision rather than just the Council.
879. 3 : From John Fernandez, President, Hilo Downtown Improve-
ment Association, dated June 27, 1974, commending the
action of the Council for setting up a committee to
study pari-mutuel betting.
879.4: From Mary W. Earl dated July 5, 1974, asking that
before the County goes into a lot of studies and
lobbying before the State Legislature that it poll
the people of the County by referendum on whether or
not they want pari-mutuel betting.
,fie, Cf— 879.5: From John A. Hoag, Hawaii Island Vice President, First
Hawaiian Bank, dated July 16, 1974, protesting the
proposed position voiced by Councilwoman Yadao on
behalf of Hawaii County asking for State legislation
permitting pari-mutuel horse racing on an elective
County basis , to be presented to the Hawaii State
Association of Counties next December.

"No. 50: REGULATION OF DOGS
(Revised) Amending Chapter 3 (Regulations Promoting the General
Welfare) , Hawaii County Code, by addition of a new
article (Regulation of Dogs) .

back to Legislative Committee.
