The following are the recommendations of the Social and Cultural
Development Committee which were considered at its meeting of June 10,
1974:
COMMUNICATIONS
e- No. 775 : AMNESTY
From Curtis Narimatsu dated April 1, 1974, recommending
passage of a resolution in favor of amnesty:
775 .1: From Council Chairman Robert M. Yamada dated April 17,
1974, transmitting for consideration copies of written
testimonies presented at the April 17 Council meeting
regarding amnesty:
/5-ec, C- 775 .2: From Charles C . Conrad dated May 1, 1974, informing
that he believes the County Council "should wash their
hands of any amnesty resolution":
I.€ - 775 .3 : From Rev. Peter G. McKnight dated May 14, 1974, informing
that he opposes unconditional amnesty of deserters from
the armed forces or others who refused to serve when
called by their country to serve:
Lac, 775.4: From Rev. John Hoover dated June 4, 1974, responding to
a question put to Rev. Peter G. McKnight on whether or
not amnesty is a Biblical concept :
Recommend to the Council for
consideration a resolution on
the question of amnesty.
