COUNTY OF HAWAII - • �t:" r1., STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,•41-.F.•M�' � <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 103 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET, <br /> INC., TO SUPPORT THE HAWAII STATE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES <br /> SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR ITS DOUBLE BUCKS <br /> PROGRAM AT MAKU`U FARMERS MARKET. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i State Department of Human Services administers the states <br /> Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) formerly known as the food stamp <br /> program; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to eradicate the root of hunger, that supports the Double Bucks program and will provide the <br /> administrative services necessary for this District 4 Contingency Funds transfer; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Double Bucks program offers shoppers using SNAP benefits the <br /> opportunity of doubling their buying power at the Maku`u Farmers Market while encouraging <br /> the purchase of fresh local fruits and vegetables available at the market, and supporting local <br /> farmers and food producers; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services SNAP Double Bucks program falls <br /> within the Department of Research and Developments goals of collaborating with stakeholders <br /> and supposrting sustainaible agricultural programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc.,to assist with SNAP's <br /> Double Bucks program at Maku`u Market. <br />
