The following are the recommendations of the Agriculture and
Visitor Industry and Planning, Research and Development Committees
which were considered at its meeting of June 13, 1973 :
COMMUNICATIONS
4,1A - No. 324: QUALITY GROWTH POLICY FOR VISITOR INDUSTRY
From Raymond H. Suefuji, Planning Director, and
Clifford H. F. Lum, Corporation Counsel, dated
June 1, 1973, submitting two documents entitled:
"Tourism - Guidelines for Development" and
"Environmental Impact Statement, Guidelines -
Hotel/Condominium Developments. " Recommends the
adoption of Bill 1002 which reflects the intent
and purpose of the guidelines for an orderly
growth of the Big Island' s visitor industry,
placing the emphasis on quality growth and
simultaneously implementing the General Plan
(Ordinance 439) and Section 3-16 of the County
Charter.
Approve and recommend
passage_ of Bill 1002
on first reading.
d - No. 327: ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT
EXPANSION AND IMPROVEMENT OF HILO AIRPORT
From Kenneth Nako, President, Hilo Jaycees, dated
June 4, 1973, requesting support of their resolution
urging the swift approval of the environmental impact
statement concerning the expansion and improvement
of the Hilo Airport. It asks the major air carriers
servicing Hilo to halt their reduction of service
into Hilo and to join forces with the State, County,
HVB, and the business community in supporting
programs to increase travel to our city.
Approve request to support
the resolution of the Hawaii
State Jaycees.
