The following are the recommendations of the Social and Cultural
Development & Legislative Committees which were considered at its
meeting of October 15, 1973:
ORDINANCE
Bill 5 : FIREWORKS ORDINANCE
An ordinance amending Chapter 3, Article 3, Section 11,
Special Firecrackers.
Recommends the following:
(1) That a limitation to set off or cause
to be exploded any fireworks on New
Year' s Eve, Chinese New Year' s Eve and
Fourth of July night be from 7 :00 p.m.
to 2:00 a.m. ;
(2) That retail sale of fireworks be for
a limited period starting from the last
day of school before Christmas and ending
on the day school starts after New Year' s
and one week prior to and including
Chinese New Year' s and the Fourth of
July;
(3) Passage of revised Bill 5 on first reading.

Charles S. Kamimura, Chairman, Unit #6, Hawaii Division,
HGEA, dated October 11, 1973, regarding the status of
the recommendation to revise the Fireworks Ordinance.

of the action taken on Bill 5 .

that they voted overwhelmingly in favor of a
County ordinance to completely ban fireworks
except for ceremonial occasions and for public
display.

seeking support of the proposed resolution for

Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 134.
