The following is the recommendation of the Finance and Agriculture
& Visitor Industry Committees which was considered at its meeting of
March 13, 1974:
COMMUNICATION
,L - No. 710: HIVIA'S PROMOTION CAMPAIGN WITH UNITED AIR LINES
From Charles Kamaka., President, Hawaii Island Visitor
Industry Association, dated March 5, 1974, informing
that HIVIA has launched a $600,000 promotion campaign
with United Air Lines to promote travel on the Big
Island for 1974 and that their contribution to this
program will be $235,000 for 1973-74. Requests an
additional $52,000 for 1973-74 from the Council to
meet this commitment with United Air Lines:
Approve grant of $52,000 as per request
of HIVIA, and including any adjustments
to the original appropriation. Request
the Finance Committee Chairman to prepare
' the proper resolution incorporating the
changes to get the full promotional
campaign operating.
