Nakamae, Director of Finance, dated May 7, 1974, recommending that sufficient funds be appropriated to assist sampan bus operators in purchasing insurance to continue bus service in Hilo until implementation of the County's transportation system: Rescind action on C-246 .1 (Council meeting of May 22, 1974) and recommend the following: (1) that full subsidy for insurance be provided the sampan bus operators to continue bus service, as requested by the County; and (2) that the Director of Finance be requested to set up the funds. Smith, President, Hawaii Island Humane Society, dated June 1, 1974, responding to a letter from Mrs. Linda Van Hoosear regarding an animal quarantine station on this island . Feels that quarantine is a state responsibility and informs that present cost figures are not available for building and operation but presumably very high: Receive and file; and refer to the Legislative Committee for lobbying at the next session of the Legis- lature for the establishment of an animal quarantine station on this island . /No . 862 : SING OUT HILO - REQUEST FOR FUNDS From Council Chairman Robert M. Yamada dated June 5, 1974, referring for appropriate disposition a request for financial assistance from Sing Out Hilo on a contractual basis to produce and perform at Expo 174 in Spokane, Washington, on July 13, 14 and 15, 1974 : /6ec.
