The following is the recommendation of the Recreation and Transportation
and Public Works Committees which was considered at its meeting of
May 14, 1975:
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 1230: - HILO/DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION - TRAFFIC IN
DOWNTOWN HILO
.From Mino Shintani, Chairman of the Traffic Committee,
dated March 13, 1975, submitting proposals for
consideration regarding traffic in downtown Hilo.
1230. 1: From Raymond Suefuji, Planning Director, dated
March 27, 1975 informing that they are in agreement
with the traffic circulation scheme proposed by the
DIA as an appropriate interim measure in the
implementation of Phase I of the Downtown Development
Plan. As it is difficult to accurately predict driving
behavorial patterns, they intend to monitor the .
circulation scheme and make the necessary adjustments
to make it workable.
,Qee G- 1230.2: From Duke Silva, Unit Chairman, IBEW L. U. 1357 dated
May 1, 1975, suggesting that the space nearest the
egress from the parking lot of Hawaiian Telephone Company
on Kinoole Street be elithinated to afford the employees
viewing safety which is now lacking.
Approve the traffic circulation
pattern proposed by the Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association as an interim
measure in the implementation of the
Hilo Downtown "Development Plan and
request the Corporation Counsel to
prepare theappropriate bill for an
ordinance.
