No . 1505 : Chairman Kimura - Re: Board Memo 5$, Kona White Sand Beach: Refer to Chief Engineer for study. No . 2145 : Chief Engineer - Re : Parking Lot at Old County Building Site (C-1155) -- Request appropriation for land acquisition; appraised valuation of land is $36,600; court charges for condemnation proceedings • will be about. $1, 000.00: Defer acquisition of land indefinitely until need is justified by County. Recommends that County go ahead with paving of area already available and parking meters be installed . ?o . 2526 : Purchasing Agent - Informs that a study was made on Bid Proposal No . 88, Motor Grader, Payloaders, and Tractor Shovel and found that they do not meet the specifications, therefore recommends rejection of these bids : Accept and file (bids already rejected) . • Adopted : January 15, 1969 Report No. / File No. POS. .. M. No. / Date: iIjAN 15 1969 1 0 PWC Rep. 1 - 2 - Jan. 10, 1969 No . 2614: Chief Engineer - Re : Malaai Road, Waiakea Homesteads - Informs that request has been received from Mrs . Edna Azevedo for consideration to improve the vertical sight distance of the Malaai Road near Alawaena intersection. Estimated cost to lower the grade at the high point about 4 ft . , pave 10 ft . wide pavement and provide drainage ditches with County forces is $5, 000.00. Additional 51, 300.00 is needed to provide for the relocation of the 6" water line, of which $900.00 is the Board of Water Supply's charge . Since funding is large amount to be taken from South Hilo District R&M fund, authorization and funding are requested for the improvement . If project is to be by contract, additional $2, 000.00 for road and water line relocation would be required ; therefore recommends that County forces do the work: • Approve . ZiaA./ . The estimated cost for the total 3600 ft . is $12, 600.00: Request denied . �No . 2776 : Chief Engineer - Submits report on the request made by Rev. Russell and informs of the following : 1 . Painting of marked parking stalls can be implemented, if so directed. (Marked stalls will call for enforcement by the police in case of improper parking. ) 2. Installation of traffic lights at the inter- section of Kinoole and Mohouli Streets has been referred to the Hawaii County Highway Safety Council . (Cost estimate is $6, 500.00. ) 3 . Cost estimate is 520, 000.00 to install two 65"x50" metal arch culverts: Authorize the Public Works Department to go ahead with the drawings for the con- struction of a culvert and submit the cost estimate .
