HomeMy WebLinkAboutREP PWC 010 05/29/1969 1969-1972r 111) PUBLIC WORKS • COMMITTEE REPORT REPORT NO 10 Councilmen County of Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii The following are the recommendations of the Public Works Committee which were considered at its meeting of May 29, 1969: COMMUN ICAT IONS No . 129.2: Philip Hooton, Chairman, Highway Safety Council Re: Rules & Regulations Covering the Design, Placement and Maintenance of Traffic Control Devices (C-129/PWC-5; C-129.1/PWC-7) Informs that the Highway Safety Council concurs with the comments made by the Chief Engineer in . his report on the above draft and has no adverse comment to make relative to the draft: Accept recommendations of the Chief Engineer and have him present comments at the public hearing. /6„ 6vm No. 164.1: Mayor Re-: Request of Felix Asia of Camp 10, Honokaa (0-164/PWC-6) - Submits the following information: 1) Request for the replacement of the existing 200-watt incandescent street lights with new mercury-vapor lights. Recommends that this request be held in abeyance until the next fiscal year when a number of street lights in adjoining areas will be installed. 2) Request for fire hoses for the existing fire hydrants. Estimated cost would be $1,784.00 which would have to be added to the operating budget for the Fire Department. artment. ALL a-0'n' • No. 259: Hiram Chow, Grade 3 Student Letter of thanks to the Mayor and Council members for the paved ro ad at Opihikao : Request Mayor to acknowledge Hiram Chow' s letter with thanks. No. 278: Managing Director Re: Light on Helco Pole No. 97, Across Pool Hall in Kainaliu, Kona (Itotion No. 21) - Informs that the light has been installed as per request: Received and file. No. 280: Assistant Corporation Counsel Re: Rec. 2/PWC-9 - Submits a resolution expressing need for electrical power and services at Kiolokaa, District of Kau: Recommends adoption of the resolution. RECOMMENDATIONS No . 1: Request the administration to look into the traffic lights location at the entrance of Kealakehe School on Palani Road. • PWC-10 - 3 - May 29, 1969 No. 2: Request the administration to check into the speed limit of the Kealakehe School area and to install the necessary school zone signs. Maintain Pakalana Road shoulders No. 4: Dick Frazier - a. Additional police officers for Honokaa b. Maintenance of Kukuihaele Park (old school) No . 5: Roy Toku - a. Waipio Lookout Lights b. Improve road to Kukuihaele Cemetery c. Waipio Valley public facility No . 6: Frank De Luz - a. Request for additional two police officers for Honokaa to provide immediate 24-hour service.
