SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
HOLOMUA STREET — NO PARKING AT ANYTIME DELETION
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5 (Parking),
Section 24-280, Schedule 28 (No parking at anytime), subsection (c) South Hilo of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), be amended by
repealing the following listing:

The intent of this amendment is to allow for more parking in the subject area by
removing an existing no parking zone. Due to a relocated business, the subject no
parking area is no longer needed.

Traffic Code Amendments - Holomua Street cont'd
We plan to remove the no parking zone while still providing standard intersection
no parking, which can be achieved without the need for an item in section 24-280 of the
Hawaii County Code. Typical no parking restrictions that can be achieved without code
amendment are referenced in section 24-190 of the Hawaii County Code. Specifically,
we can restrict parking up to seventy-five feet of an intersection, which in this case,
should be sufficient to address any sight distance concerns.
