Cost for improving the parking area above the clubhouse is estimated at $20,000: C�n n,• 165.6: Chief Engineer Re: 'C-165.5 - Parking in Front of Hilo Municipal Golf Course Informs that the re-estimated cost of improving the parking area on the west side and to the north of the clubhouse is $24,000: Recommends approval of the project and refer to the Finance Committee for funding. <,s_., e.- J. Also informs that with the implementation of the proposed Hilo Storm Drainage System project, the drainage system will intercept the storm water which flows down toward the low-lying properties, such as the De Morales property: Request the administration to indicate to Mr. De Morales that the plans for the proposed Hilo Storm Drainage System project are almost complete and the flooding problem will be alle- viated with the implementation of this project. �No . 373.1: Planning Director Re: Comprehensive Study - Kailua-Kona (Rec. 4/PWC-7 & 'C-373/PWC-13) Informs that the Planning Department is presently studying this matter and reports on the progress made thus far: Received and file. Putman, Associate Researcher, Legislative Reference Bureau (t-400/PWC-14) Informs that the final study of the Legislative Reference Bureau on the Uniform Vehicle Code, the Hawaii State Laws, and the Traffic Ordinances of the four counties will be ready by late September and asks that the Council send their comments by September 9, 1969: Received and file. (Bill 636) • 41 PWC-16 - 3 - August 29, 1969 No . 405.1: Recommends passage of the (Con't.) proposed Bill No . 636 on first reading. =Lm No . 423.1: Law Clerk, Office of the Corporation Counsel Re: 'C-423/PWC-l4 - Amendment to Traffic Ordinance for a 35 mph speed limit on the Mahukona-Niulii- Pololu Road Transmits proposed bill for an ordinance amending Section 10-5(c) of Ordinance No. 39, Traffic Code. Boggs, EYD 1, Box 108F, Pepeekeo , Hawaii Asks that the County reimburse him $40.56, which is the cost to have a wrecker remove his car from the soft shoulder and back onto the Glenwood Homestead Road. He contends that the lack of adequate warning' signs of the dangerous roadside conditions is justification for his claim: Refer to the Corporation Counsel for an opinion and recommendation. No . 454: Corporation Counsel Re: Dedication Deed - Kamuela Lakeland Subdivision Transmits for acceptance by the Council an amended deed to the roadways within the Kamuela Lakeland Subdivision at Kamuela, Hawaii. The Department of Public Works recommends that the road be accepted for dedication: Recommends acceptance of the road and the execution of the documents by the proper officials. 67,,,n, No . 459: P. Hooton, Chairman, North Kohala Traffic Safety Committee Submits a letter from Mr. Wilfred Morikawa, Vice Principal of Kohala High and Elementary School, requesting the installation of a manually controlled traffic light at the crosswalk on the Kohala High School road. • • PWC-16 - 4 - August 29, 1969 No. 459: Informs that the committee concurs with this request (Con't.) and urges authorization for installing this light if funds are available: Recommends approval of the request and refer to the administration for the implementation of the project; funding be referred to the Finance Director. <Act, C-�x1•/iptocdo� REC OMMENDAT IONS 0, No . 1: Request the Highway Safety Council to make a study of a possible pedestrian walkway on the old Mamalahoa Highway in Papaikou (from the Office Camp to Sakuma Store) for the safety of the children walking to school and submit recommendations.
