The following verbal report of the Public Works Committee
was presented and adopted by the County Council at its meeting
of September 17, 1969:

Re : Parking Meter Zone - Old County Building
Parking Lot
Informs that plans and specifications for the subject
parking lot are being finalized and will be advertised
for bids in the near future. Recommends that Section
17 of Resolution No . 175 be amended to include the
Old County Building site as a parking meter zone and
that parking be limited to two hours:
Accept the recommendation and
request the Corporation Counsel
to prepare the proper amendment.

• Re: Dedication Deed - Kaumana City Subdivision
Transmits for the Council ' s approval the dedication
deed to the roadways within the Kaumana City
Subdivision, Unit 1-B, Ponahawai, South Hilo , Hawaii.
The Department of Public Works recommends that said
road be accepted for dedication:

dedication deed and the execu-
tion of the documents by the
proper officials.

Submits a brief history as to the status of the subject
matter. Requests that the Council expedite the con-

Tmprovement District No . 3, Okino Subdivision,

Submits to the Council an explanation of why Yamada
and Sons, Inc. , was not able to commence work on the
above project after notification by the County to
proceed with the work on February 3, 1969 and request
that liquidated damages in this project be waived:
Recommends denial of the
request that liquidated
damages be waived.

requesting the Council ' s permission to construct
a rock retaining wall on County right-of-way in

Mr. Ichio Tomiyama, Chairman, Hawaii School
Advisory Council, requesting that the County
look into ways of alleviating some of the hazard-
ous traffic situations on Waianuenue Avenue by the
Hilo Union School area:

to the administration for
implementation.

(Con' t.) bypass safety loading and unloading area for
the Hilo High and Hilo Intermediate Schools.
Estimated cost - $20,000-` 25,000: (Re-est. cost $35,000)
Refer to the Finance Commit-
tee and the Finance Director
for recommendations on funding.
PETITION
19c!• Pet. 6: Residents of Kaopoko Homestead Road
Request County to widen the Kaopoko Homestead Road
and install fire hydrants and street lights. Also
request the County to pay special attention to the
bad curve in that area where accidents have already
occurred:
Refer to the Public Works
Department and the Department
of Water Supply for a report
