PUBLIC WORKS
COMMITTEE REPORT
REPORT NO 21
Councilmen
County of Hawaii
Hilo, Hawaii
The following are the recommendations of the Public Works
Committee which were considered at its meeting of November 11,
1969:
COMMUN ICAT IONS
,S Ars,,,,, No . 116.1: Philip Hooton, Chairman, Highway Safety Council
Re: 'C-116/PWC-4 (C-3000/PWC-1) - Parking Problem
in Front of Dr. Nakamaru' s Office Building in
Kealakekua, Kona
Recommends that the request by Dr. Nakamaru be
denied and suggests that the only suitable solution
is for him to utilize his front yard for off-street
parking. The Highway Safety Council would have no
objection to a variance from the driveway ordinance
if that would help in any way and if the County
Council were willing to grant an easement for that
portion of County land which would allow vertical
parking as shown on the attached sketch, this
problem may be solved:
Request the Corporation Counsel
to prepare a variance from the
driveway ordinance and an ease-
ment grant to Dr. Nakamaru to
allow vertical parking.
