Committee which were considered at its meeting of June 25, 1971:
COMMUNICATIONS
No . 1152.2: FLASHING LIGHTS 7 HONALO

Philip D. Hooton, Chairman, Highway 'Safety Council,
informs that they concur with the State Highways
Division's findings that flashing lights at the
intersection of Kuakini-Mamalahoa Highway in Honalo,
North Kona, are not warranted:

'No. 1461: PAAUILO SEWER
Council Chairman transmits a letter from Mr. Leon A.
Thevenin, Manager of Hamakua Mill Company, - regarding
their proposal that the County acquire the subject
utility:

the subject matter:
Recommend that the County offer
technical assistance and act as
a liaison with other governmental
agencies to resolve the problem
but decline to take over the
subject utility at this point in
time.

LOCATION & DURATION FOR TWO DIRECTIONAL SIGNS FOR
HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
John Kelley, Project Manager, Grant Co . of Hawaii,
requests a variance for the installation oftwo
directional signs on private property for their
housing development for the period from June 25 to
and including July 6:

Chief Engineer requests that. in .order to incorporate
the changes to the National Standards on pavement
striping on future striping projects, subsection 3-d)
of Section 5-7, Traffic Control Devices, Ord. No . 39,
be repealed and that paragraph "3A-5 General Principles -
Longitudinal Pavement Markings" be incorporated into
the Traffic Code:

be amended by adding the following new subsection to
