The following are the recommendations of the Public Works
Committee which were considered at its meeting of July 21, 1972:
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 1888.2: HONOKAA WATERSHED
From Mayor Kimura dated July 12, 1972, transmitting for
information a letter from Mr. Fred Haughton, State
Conservationist, informing that the Honokaa Watershed
Application has been received by the Secretary of
Agriculture g ture and that planning assistance will be provided
when technical facilities are available.
Receive and file.
No. 1951.1: AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE NO. 476, SECTION VII (REVIEWS
AND APPROVAL)
From Chief Engineer dated July 6, 1972, submitting a
proposed bill (No. 902) for an ordinance to amend
Section VII, Reviews and Approval, to delete reference
to the words, "State Highways" in the second line,
paragraph A, and to call out "Federal Aid Secondary
County Highways" in line 5 after the words, "The County
shall" to specifically mention the type of highway
included in the review and approval by the County under
the ordinance provisions which were patterned after the
State's policy.
Approve and recommend passage of
Bill 902 on first reading.

No. 2051: CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE
PROJECTS BY COUNTY FORCES
From Chief Engineer dated July 14, 1972, requesting
Council approval to permit the Department of Public
Works , through its own forces, to accomplish those
C.I.P. projects included in Ordinance 475 within
the $4,000 to $15,000 range and repairs and maintenance
projects, without calling for sealed bids.
Approve request.
(Mr. Yamada abstained
from voting. )
No. 2052: ROAD DEDICATION DEED - HAWAIIAN SHORES SUBDIVISION
.From F. E. Scheiderich, Vice President, Hawaii Park
Terrace, Inc. , dated July 14,1972, transmitting the
Dedication Deed for roads located within a portion
of the Hawaii Shores Subdivision in Waiakahiula, Puna
(Road Lots "A" to "K" ) .

Terrace, Inc. dated July 14, 1972, transmitting the
Dedication Deed for roads located within a portion
of the Hawaiian Shores Subdivision in Waiahiula, Puna

subject to approval by the
Corporation Counsel.
Bill 840: BUILDING CODE
(Amended) An ordinance adopting the "Uniform Building Code, 1970
edition,Volume I" , by reference, in toto, with certain
substitutions thereto, and repealing all sections and
parts of ordinances of the County of Hawaii in conflict
therewith.
