Aloha,
My name is Lucia Samuels &my husband is Larry Samuels. We have lived in Hilo area since 1993. We are
completely in support of the Styrofoam ban.
We are very concerned about light trash blowing around along our roadways and near and into the ocean. We
live along the belt line highway and every week I am picking up general trash, including foam and light plastic
items.
I myself have attempted to do my part in avoiding use of Styrofoam in all's its forms, including taking my own
reusable carry out containers from home to carry out food places.
The argument that the business community makes that it will add to their costs if they have to pay for recyclable
containers is not a valid excuse for trashing our beautiful environment. I am willing to pay more to businesses
for their food projects.
We should all do our part to minimize waste going into our landfills, especially items that don't naturally
decompose.
Please pass the Styrofoam ban.
