The following are the recommendations of the Committee on Public Service
which were considered at its meeting of September 21 , 1977 :

�No. 486.1 : BUILDING OF SEA GROINS ALONG OLD KONA AIRPORT
Copy of letter to Mr. A. S. Murray, President, West Hawaii
Committee, from Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated September 6,
1977 responding to his letter of August 10, 1977 explaining
the many necessary steps that must be studied and cleared
for projects affecting the coastal lands.

No. 514: OFFER OF PROPERTY FOR EXPANSION OF MAGIC SANDS PARK-
NORTH KONA
From M a4 Van Pernis, Sterry, Mah, and Gallup, Attorneys
at Law, dated August 25 , 1977, on behalf of his clients,
the DeAguiar family, offering to sell the fee title to
their shoreline property in North Kona for $2.00 per square
foot or negotiate on any reasonable proposal. This land is
subject to a lease which pays $6 ,000 per year and expires
in 2015.
In addition, the DeAguiars would consider negotiating to
transfer the lessor' s interest in the lease to the County
or State if the underlying fee was purchased; this would
mean that the County or the State would receive in excess
of $200,000.00 in rental income and also have an acre of
oceanfront land to add to its Magic Sands Park.
Recommend offer be declined.
"No. 517 : PARAMEDIC SERVICES FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
From Councilman James L. K. Dahlberg dated September 6, 1977
making inquiry on : (1) priority of paramedic services for
various districts on the island; and ( 2) why the County is
providing ambulance service islandwide but are not being
compensated to help defray some of the costs in providing
such services. q
