The following are the recommendations of the Committee on Agriculture
and Tourism which were considered at its meeting of August 24, 1977:
COMMUNICATIONS
"No. 469. 1: AMENDMENT TO COUNTY BUILDING CODE - AGRICULTURAL BUILDINGS
From ATC Chairman James L. K. Dahlberg dated August 16,
1977, attaching letter sent to several organizations and
people requesting their presence at the next ATC meeting
to discuss revising the County' s building code.

"No. 479 : NEW SLOGAN FOR THE BIG ISLAND
Copy of letter to Mr. Jack Smoot, Executive Vice-President,
Kona Coast Chamber of Commerce, from Bob McIntosh, Chairman
of the Board, HIVIA, dated August 8, 1977, commenting on
the suggested new slogan, "Hawaii , the Island of Old Hawaii" .

�No. 480 : PROPOSALS AND COMMENTS - KONA COAST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
From Councilman James L. K. Dahlberg dated August 3, 1977,
transmitting for Committee' s deliberation and recommendations ,
a communication from Mr. Kenneth M. Young, President of the
Kona Coast Chamber of Commerce.

RECOMMENDATIONS
4, f , No. 1: AMENDMENT TO BUILDING CODE - AGRICULTURAL BUILDINGS
<A, F'> Request the Bureau of Building Construction & Inspection
to consider the following amendments to the Building
Code :
1. The applicant be permitted to utilize one set of
plans , stamped by a structural engineer, for all
similar agricultural buildings built on the
property.
2. Agricultural buildings and structures covered with
rigid plastic material be exempted from the Building
Code requirements .
