The following are the recommendations of the Committee on Agriculture
and Tourism which were considered at its meeting of September 28, 1977:

'No. 454. 1 : RESPONSE TO THE EIS PREPARATION NOTICE
KE-AHOLE AGRICULTURAL PARK (C-454/ATC-15 )
From L. C. Fruto, Project Manager, M & E Pacific, Inc. ,
dated September 13 , 1977, informing they have not
received any comments from the Hawaii County Council
concerning the environmental impact statement for the
proposed Ke-ahole Agricultural Park; however, comments
may be submitted when the EIS statement is distributed.

No. 456. 2 : "HAWAII FORESTRY POTENTIAL"
From John Farias , Jr. , Chairman , Board of Agriculture,
dated September 14, 1977, acknowledging receipt of a copy
of "Hawaii Forestry Potential" and informs the department
supports Mr. Gurnsey' s recommendation that a detailed
study and course of action should be planned.

status to Ka 'u Research Institute, Inc. by the Internal
Revenue Service.

COMMERCIAL FARM USE
From ATC Chairman James L. K. Dahlberg dated
September 22 , 1977, transmitting copies of letters to
U. S. Senators Daniel K. Inouye and Spark M. Matsunaga
and U. S. Representative Daniel Akaka from John C.
Hance, President-Manager, Puna Papaya , regarding EPA' s
consideration to ban ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamata (EBDC)
fungicides from commercial farm use.
Asks support for the use of this chemical by the papaya
industry and that EPA and the Hawaii Congressional
Delegation be notified of said support.
Receive and file; and request
ATC Chairman to prepare appro-
priate resolution supporting
the use of EBDC by the papaya
industry to be forwarded to
EPA and Hawaii Congressional
Delegation.
