RESOLUTION NO. 112 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FUTURE FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL HOKUPA'A YOUTH SUMMIT.
WHEREAS, Hokupa'a is an organization created through collective efforts of West
Hawaii leaders from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Hawai`i State Department of Education -
West Hawaii Complex Area, Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Community College, Queen
Lili`uokalani Children's Center, The Learning Coalition, and Hawaii Office of Youth Services;
and
WHEREAS, the Hokupa`a Youth Summit is organized to align the work of programs,
organizations, and the community to improve the quality of life for youth and young adults from
the ages of 11 to 25; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is
to encourage people to contribute their values to create shared visions to improve communities;
and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is committed to working with Hokupa`a to achieve its
objectives; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds to provide food, beverages, and
t-shirts for the third annual Hokupa`a Youth Summit that will be held on April 28, 2017; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for the third annual Hokupa`a
Youth Summit.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
