The following are the recommendations of the Committee on Finance which
were considered at its meeting of December 14, 1977 :
COMMUNICATIONS
/S C- No. 630: REQUEST FOR THREE POSITIONS TO ADMINISTER STATE MOTOR
(Res . 199) VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND WEIGHT TAX
From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated December /, 19 /7,
informing the State Department of Transportation has
authorized cost items up to $37, 000 for calendar
year 1978 to collect the new State Motor vehicle
registration fee and weight tax established by Act 188,
SLH 1976 and Act 195, SLH 1977. Therefore, requests
that the three positions needed to administer the
new program be created in the salary ordinance to
be paid only from funds receivable from the State.
Approve and recommend adoption of
Resolution 199. In view of the
fact the funding is for one year
only, recommend that the Planning
and Legislative Committee work
together with the administration
in drawing up a proposal to request
the State to provide funding for the
ensuing years.
/Lc, C - No. 631: ESTABLISHMENT OF TWO TEMPORARY POSITIONS FOR
(Res. 201) . OPERATIONS SECTION OF COUNTY TRANSIT AGENCY
From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated December 9, 1977,
submitting for consideration, a resolution establishing
two temporary one-year positions of Automotive
Mechanic to be attached to the Operations Section of
the County Transit Agency as a critical component of
the third Year Mass Transportation experimental project.
Approve and recommend
adoption of Resolution 201.

'No. 635 : CLAIM OF PAULETTE WRIGHT (C-528, 1973)
From Corporation Counsel Stephen G. Bess dated
December 8, 1977, submitting for filing, a release
executed by Paulette Wright, for herself and as
Guardian of the Estate of her minor daughter,
Selisa K. Wright, in settlement of her claim against
the County Of Hawaii.

RESOLUTIONS
No. 200: AMENDMENT TO SALARY ORDINANCE
Amends the Salary Ordinance of 1977, for the Department
of Parks and Recreation, Children' s Zoo.
Approve and recommend adoption.
No. 202 : AMENDMENT TO SALARY ORDINANCE
Amends the Salary Ordinance of 1977, for the Office
of County Council.
Approve and recommend adoption.
