Your Committee on Finance to which was referred :
.e: Comm. 959 : CREATION OF TWO CLERK POSITIONS IN LIEU OF FILLING
VACANT POSITION OF POLICE SERGEANT
From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated October 13,
1978, informing a study of the operations of the
Records and Identification Division of the Police
Department has revealed that hiring two clerks to
handle fingerprint classification and court duties
would be more cost, effective than filling the
present vacant position of the Police Sergeant
(Court Officer) who handles court duties; therefore,
requests approval to create the two positions in lieu
of filling the vacant position of Police Sergeant .
Upon approval, a classification study will be
conducted and when amending the Salary Ordinance for
the Police Department, they will inform of the costs
of the two positions. The amount presently budgeted
for the Police Sergeant is $23, $54 including all
fringe benefits;
recommends Council approve the request to create two Clerk positions in
lieu of filling the vacant position of Police Sergeant, with the under-
standing that the amount shall not exceed $23, $54, including all fringe
benefits .
