Your Committee on Finance to which was referred:
Comm. 1091: APPROPRIATION OF $$75,000 FOR PHASE I
(Bill 469) HILO CIVIC AUDITORIUM
From Finance Committee Chairman Harvey S. Tajiri
dated March 21, 1979 submitting for favorable
consideration, a bill appropriating $875,000 for
Phase I, Improvements to Hilo Civic Auditorium,
to convert it into a multi-purpose complex. This
project, while accomplishing the Council's major
objective of "Economic Development", will provide
our residents with additional meeting facilities
and provide economic growth and stability to the
visitor industry in the sense of expanding the
convention -visitor market source.
Should the proposal receive favorable response,
this matter will be referred to the Director of
Finance so he may incorporate the funding require-
ments into the general obligation bond authorization
legislation to enable him to enter the bond market
once for the entire needs of the County;
recommends Council receive and file the communication; and approve and
adopt Bill 469 on first reading.
The bill amends the CIP ordinance for fiscal year 1978-1979 by adding
the following project: Department of Parks and Recreation, Hilo Civic
Auditorium Im rovement - Phase I (Plans and Construction); funds for
the project (875,000) shall be provided from sale of general obligation
bonds.
