Your Committee on Finance to which was referred :
Comm. 1363 : TRANSPORTATION DEMONSTRATION PROJECT FOR THE
(Res. 51$) HANDICAPPED
From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated October 26,
1979 submitting for review and appropriate action,
a resolution requesting the transfer of $5,000
from the Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency to the
Hawaii County Office of Aging for the implementa-
- tion of a transportation demonstration project
for the handicapped .
Informs this project is aimed at demonstrating
the logistical and operational needs for an
eventual island-wide "handi-van" system linked
with the Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency; to
supplement this proposal, a Small Cities Block
Grant application has been submitted for
approval, and an application for funds through
the Urban Mass Transit Act will also be drafted
and proposed ;
recommends Council approve and adopt Resolution 51$ to transfer
$5,000 from the Mass Transportation Agency to the Office of Aging
to implement a transportation demonstration project for the
handicapped .
