Your Committee on Finance to which was referred: -
,(.Comm. 1385: EMERGENCY 'COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR SOUTH POINT
From T. S . Yamada, Island Manager, Hawaiian Telephone
Company, dated October. 25, 1979 responding to an
inquiry on a communication system for South.. Point.
Informs public pay telephones in isolated areas are.
frequently vandalized and thus will be inoperable
most of the time, not meeting the. public's. requirement;
and recommends installation of a. ringdown circuit at
• the old Air Force missile site at South Point which
will automatically cause the telephone at Naalehu
Police Station to ring upon lifting of the receiver.
This proposal is subject to the conditions , as
contained in his letter;
(PWC-163 - Recommend Council accept the proposal of
Hawaiian Telephone Company to install a ringdown
circuit at South Point; . and refer to. Finance Committee
for funding.)
recommends Council refer proposal of Hawaiian Telephone Company to
install a ringdown circuit at. South Point to the Police Department for
scrutiny and funding, if feasible.
