Your -Committee on Finance to which was referred:

kComm. 1400 : HAMAKUA FLOOD DAMAGE REPAIRS
(Res . 537) From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated December 11, •
1979 informing without a Federal disaster declaration
for the Hamakua flood damages , a large source of
financial aid is cut off; therefore , State and County
resources must be relied upon to help flood victims.
Although County assistance is limited, men and
equipment have already been sent to help restore the
Waipio Valley conditions , but more resources will be
required to repair damages to County facilities .
Further, until such time that more specific estimates
are available, it would be prudent to set up at least
$25 ,000 immediately to use as needed for repairs of
flood damages in the Hamakua area;
recommends Council approve and adopt Resolution 537 to transfer
$25 ,000 from the Unemployment Compensation account to the Hamakua
Flood Damage Repairs account.
