Your Committee on Finance to which was referred :
Comm. 1579 : CIVIL NO. 6277
, , ALVAREZ V. RESURRECION, ET AL.
From Corporation Counsel Stephen G. Bess dated
May 30, 1980 informing the subject suit names as
defendants two police officers, Julio Resurrecion
and Lawrence Mahuna, and the County of Hawaii ;
upon the advice of Gerald Kibe, Assistant Discipli-
nary Counsel, the Office of the Corporation Counsel
is notable to represent all defendants in the case .
Informs they will represent the County of Hawaii and
requests, pursuant to Section 5-2 .5 of the County
Charter, that special counsel be appointed to
represent the individual officers ;
•
recommends, pursuant to Section 5-2 .5 of the County Charter, Council
grant authorization to hire special counsel for preliminary consultation
for Police Officers,. Julio Resurrecion and Lawrence Mahuna, in Civil No .
6277, and that the expenditure shall not exceed $5, 000.
Further recommends Director of Finance be directed to set up the funds
for this purpose .
