Your Committee Finance to which was referred:
ket, Comm. 756.1: CLAIM - STEPHEN G. BESS (C-756/FC-32)
From Corporation Counsel Stephen G. Bess dated
August 21, 1980. responding to. the Council ' s request
that he present proof that he expended $230 to
replace the tape recorder he used in conjunction
with County of Hawaii business in Alaska and
evidence that he was not negligent in the loss of
the recorder.
Submits a copy of the check written to Earle M.
Alexander, Hawaii distributor for Lanier tape
recorders, to replace the lost recorder and explains
the circumstances surrounding the loss of it.
While it may have been an exercise of poor judgment
in leaving his overcoat unattended on the plane
whilehe made a phone call to the County Attorney
of Fairbanks, he does not feel that such action was
negligent and requests authorization to reimburse
him for an expenditure that was necessitated by
County business;
pursuant to C-756/FC-32 : (1) that Mr. Bess provide the Council with
evidence thathe was not negligent in the loss of the tape recorder; and
(2) that. Mr. Bess provide proof that he in fact expended $230 to replace
the missing tape recorder; the Conuuittee finds that Mr. Bess has
complied with the conditions and recommends approval of the request for
reimbursement.
