Your Committee on Finance' to which was referred:
A..�c_Comm. 1646 : ' FEDERAL HIGHWAY GRANT •
From .Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated August 11,
1980 informing the State Department of Trans-
portation, Motor Vehicle Safety Office,' has
available $101, 351 for enforcement of. the 55-mile
per hour speed limit in the County of Hawaii and
proposes that one Sergeant, SR-21, and one Police
Officer, SR-18, be added to the existing Traffic
Enforcement unit as new positions and that
additional speed measuring equipment be purchased
• with those funds .
Requests concurrence in the submittal of a request
• for Federal Highway Funds and in creating the new
positions to implement the project;
recommends Council concur. with the administration to: (1) submit a
request for Federal Highway funds to enforce the 55.-mph .speed limit in
the County of Hawaii; (2) create two new positions (one Sergeant, SR-21,
and one Police Officer, SR-18) to implement the project; and (3)
purchase additional - speed measuring equipment. •
