(Bill 668) PLATE RESERVATIONS
From Director of Finance Stanley A. Nakamae dated
August 12, 1980 informing a complete change in
motor vehicle license plates, involving issuance of
new plates of a different color scheme and numbering
system for all automobiles, trucks, trailers and
motorcycles, will be made in 1981. In a plate
conversion year, they have been allowing, within
certain limitations, owners to reserve plates of
a particular number which causes difficulty and
extra work for the staff.
Instead of discontinuing this past practice,
proposes that a handling or service fee in the
amount of $10 be charged to any person who wishes
to reserve plates, thereby permitting the Treasury
Office to hire an additional temporary worker to
handle reservations. Accordingly, submits an
ordinance bill to establish a system and a fee for
plate reservations during the last two weeks of
December, 1980;
recommends Council approve and adopt Bill 668 on first reading to add
a new sub-section, Number Plate Reservations, to Chapter 2, Article 10,
Section 7 of the Hawaii County Code, relating to County Vehicle Taxes,
