COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII 14 os•KF%' RESOLUTION NO. 118 1 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARIES HAMAKUA TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE HONOKA`A LIBRARY 80TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. WHEREAS, the Friends of the Libraries Hamakua is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose purpose is to nurture a lifelong love of reading and learning while being the educational, informational, and cultural heart of Hawai`i's communities; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Libraries Hamakua is coordinating an 80th anniversary celebration for Honoka`a Library on June 15, 2017, to recognize and showcase 80 years of documentation_on how this library has contributed to Honoka`a town through education and culture with the theme being"Plantation Days to Present, a Community Gathering Place"; and WHEREAS, Honoka`a Head Librarian Laura Eiford,the North Hawai`i Education and Research Center(NHERC), and Heritage Center Director Momi Naughton, along with Friends of the Libraries Hamakua are working together to coordinate the celebration; and WHEREAS, the public celebration will include a production of pictorial and narrative displays that will remain in the library archives; and WHEREAS,the State Librarian and elected officials will be guest speakers, and there will be local entertainment, refreshments, activities for adults and children, plus commemorative items to take home; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Libraries Hamakua is requesting funds to offset costs for advertising,tent,table and chair rentals, lei, a photographer, refreshments, and other related expenses for the Honoka`a Library 80th Anniversary Celebration; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Friends of the Libraries Hamakua to assist with expenses related to the Honoka`a Library 80th Anniversary Celebration. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
