Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 87-17 reports as follows:
Resolution No. 87-17, transmitted by Valerie T. Poindexter, Council Chairwoman, via
Communication No. 125 dated February 16, 2017, authorizing the Director of Finance to enter
into negotiations for the acquisition of Tax Map Key (3) 2-9-002:023, also known as Hakalau
Valley, situated in the District of Hamakua, utilizing the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural
Resources Preservation Fund.
The 83.19-acre property is listed as priority No. 6 for purchase in the 2016 Annual Report of the
Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
'There was no discussion on this measure.
Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 42 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Director of Finance may be
authorized to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of property utilizing the Public Access,
Open Space,and Natural Resources Preservation Fund.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 87-17, and
recommends its adoption.
