;M<V Oi p, •'' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII /'••- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> II'�O '� <br /> ,t!OF�Mi'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 128 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO DARE HAWAII TO <br /> PAY FOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR HILO INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL <br /> STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE 2017 DARE DAY CELEBRATION. <br /> WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established 30 years <br /> ago to teach our youth to make safe and responsible decisions,to resist alcohol, drugs,tobacco, <br /> and violence, to avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and <br /> WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII is coordinating two 2017 DARE Day Celebrations in <br /> May, one in East Hawai`i and one in West Hawai`i, to commemorate the graduation of students <br /> who complete the DARE 10-week Educational Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, over 100 students from Hilo Intermediate School will have completed the <br /> DARE 10-week Educational Program, earning the opportunity to participate in the 2017 DARE <br /> Day Celebration; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hilo Intermediate School is one of the intermediate schools that have <br /> participating students completing the DARE 10-week Educational Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII has requested funds to pay for transportation services for <br /> students in Council District 2 who will be attending this celebration to recognize their <br /> achievement; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth <br /> programs, such as DARE Hawai`i, that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our youth <br /> how to make safe and responsible choices; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to DARE HAWAII for transportation services for Hilo <br /> Intermediate School students participating in the 2017 DARE Day Celebration. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
