Testimony Written for the County Council Economic Community Meeting at 1PM, Oct.

My name is Richard Schnitzler, I am President and Co-Owner of Hamakua Macadamia
Nut Company. I would like to testify in favor of Resolution 28345 for the
redesignation of four out of six Enterprise Zones on Hawaii Island for another 20
year period.
Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company is an agro business which grows, processes,
manufactures, and markets 100% Hawaiian Grown Macadamia products throughout
Hawaii, Asia and the mainland.
Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company has grown and benefited from the positive aspects
of this enterprise program partnership for a number of years. We have grown the
business from the original three employees to its current 60 employees, or I like to
put it, 60 families. Our employees come from Kawaihae, North Kohala, Waikoloa, Hilo,
Waimea, Honakaa and Kailua-Kona.
The state tax incentives and other programs provided within this Enterprise Zone
Partnership has allowed us to expand the markets of 100% Hawaiian Grown Products
worldwide while employing people from our island communities.
I respectfully request the County Council Economic Community will give serious
consideration to passing Resolution 283-15.
